It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.
Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.
Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?
Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

Review
These Broken Stars isn’t just another sci-fi. It’s more of an adventure story and a romance. Yeah, aight, they’re in space but that’s not what it feels like when you’re reading the book. This is probably the reason I enjoyed it so much. I’m not that into the science-fiction genre yet (if you have recommendations; I’d love to hear them!).

It was a very interesting read. I found it to be suspenseful, entertaining but also creepy and weird. There is something going on on this planet that isn’t natural and in the beginning it freaked me out a little. The book has its unexpected plot twists that I enjoyed very much. I thought the plot was unique and refreshing. The pace was good and switching POV’s made it easier to get to know our main characters.

The character development in this book is great. The two protagonists change a lot, both towards each other and as individuals. They’re both not what they seem to be from the beginning. Lilac is the rich, spoiled girl and Tarver the war hero but there’s more to them and we learn that quite early in the book. As the story progresses we actually get see those ‘other sides’ and get to know the MC’s a lot better.

I feel like everyone has already read and reviewed this book. There’s not much for me to tell anymore. These Broken Stars is a good book to try out the sci-fi genre in my opinion. The actual sci-fi elements aren’t that important. Like I said the focus is more on the adventure and the romance. The next book will be about two different MC’s and so will be the third. I’m excited to see where the story as a whole will be going.
